The Skin Creamery

The Skin Creamery was founded 3 years ago, by Hannah Rubin.  Hannah created The Skin Creamery from her natural love for organic living. The Skin Creamery uses locally sourced packaging and organic ingredients, which are all chosen for their healing qualities and ability to easily penetrate the skin.

I was introduced to The Skin Creamery at their pop-up shop in Joburg a few weeks ago. We were able to to meet Hannah and her passion for her range comes through clearly when she’s talking about the range, and asking you to experience it. I was able to try the products and I must say, each one smelt and felt better than the next. I’m really enjoying trialling this skincare range. Not to the mention that the packaging is just too gorgeous.

Let’s explore some of the range:

The Skin Creamery Cleansing Facial Powder (R305) is a daily exfoliating cleanser or a facemask (just mix some raw honey into it). How luxurious does that sound? I won’t lie, I feel like Cleopatra going through the motions of her beauty ritual when I apply this facemask. It’s like no other exfoliator I have tried. I love that it doesn’t have mini plastic beads in it (which are really bad for the environment) instead the granules are made of macadamia nut shell! How clever is that? It is also one of the reasons why it makes your skin feel so smooth. The powder is very fine, but it incorporates the best of the best ingredients. Such as; Calcium Bentonite (to absorb excess oil without drying), Buchu (An anti-bacterial agent with healing properties) and Baobab Fruit Powder (High in Vitamin C for natural collagen production).

Creamery

Facial Hydrating Oil (R362)  This Skin Creamery product is a favourite of mine. I struggle with dry skin. You mix 2 drops of oil into wet hands and then massage until absorbed – the oil and water join together to break down oil molecules. The Kalahari melon and seed oil, baobab and jojoba oils in this range were specifically selected for their ability to penetrate the skin and nourish from within. This product sinks into the skin effortlessly and doesn’t leave any greasy residue on your face. This leaves the skin feeling smooth, clean and soft. Also found that my foundation applies smoother over my face, once I’ve applied the oil.

As an alternative, I also switch between the Dermalogica Calm Water gel in the evenings as this products works well for my skin too. You can find the review here https://www.itsasherthing.co.za/beauty/dermalogica-makes-it-ok-to-be-sensitive/

Two Phase Skin Tonic (R489)

This organic Skin Tonic works to hydrate and condition the skin, while restoring balance. You use 3 about pumps of the product on face. The texture is more watery than oily, and I find the best way to use it is to apply the product into the palm of your hand, then apply to the skin. This product is somewhere in-between a serum and toner. You use it before you apply your moisturiser. The ingredients in this range are baobab fruit powder (high in vitamin c), rose water (tone and balance PH) and malachite which is a crystal extract with antioxidant properties.

All of the Skin Creamery offerings smell fresh, herbal and have an aromatherapy scent which makes me feel relaxed when using them. If you have sensitive skin I recommend trying their range out.

This is just 3 of the 6 products that are available in the Skin Creamery travel gift set.

If you would like to try the range but don’t want to commit to full sized products, the travel gift set retails for R 1099,00 so you can try all the products in the range.

The skin oil sounds nice, and I love the fact that its not greasy and you can apply foundation over it.
