TRESemmé collaborated with local stylist Ceecee Mabaso to bring New York Fashion Week to Jozi

For the last 11 years, TRESemmé has been a sponsor at New York Fashion Week working closely with the world’s leading designers and hair stylists to highlight the hottest hair trends to come out of the seasonal fashion shows.

This year, to mark this long-standing partnership, TRESemmé hosted an Inspired by New York Fashion Week Hair Collection in Johannesburg. Hairstyles were created by local celebrity hair stylist Sne “Ceecee” Mabaso, and models walked the runway highlighting New York Fashion Week looks. Every hairstyle displayed the four key TRESemmé product ranges –  Botanique, Beauty-Full Volume, Keratin Smooth and styling.

I loved that the hairstyles were every day styles that you could see yourself wearing to the office or to a year end function. I’ll definitely be re-creating some of these looks this Summer, thanks Ceecee and TRESemmé for the inspiration. Keep an eye out on my Instagram to see my inspired by New York Fashion Week looks. Ceecee was backstage to New York Fashion Week to represent TRESemmé South Africa to create the hottest hair trend looks for top designers Cushnie et Ochs and Rebecca Minkoff. Ceecee brought the knowledge that she acquired backstage at New York Fashion Week back to South Africa. I loved that we were able to experience the behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week at the TRESemmé inspired by NYFW event. There were celebrity hairstylists, make-up artists and models. It was frantic and busy but there was a positive energy in the room. Between the hairspray, curling tongs and product displayed all over the counters, I guess now I know how it feels to be backstage at NYFW.

Lalla Hirayama was the facilitator for the evening and she really brought a great energy to the show, she was charismatic and bubbly and the perfect choice for an event such as this, being a fashionista herself. The fashion show was beautiful to look at and I enjoyed all nine looks as well as the outfits the girls were sporting, I can picture my friends and I rocking these hair styles on a girls’ night out this summer. The champagne was flowing, the venue Turbine Hall made the most beautifully garnished G&T’s and the food was delicious! The décor and hostesses were magnificent too. Don’t even get me started on the goodie bag, this goodie bag had hair products, nail polish, coconut flavoured mints, it had everything and the kitchen sink! Let’s just say that I really enjoyed this media event and I cannot wait to start playing with my hair now that I have a bag full of goodies to help me.

TRESemmé believes in empowering women to be more confident so that they can achieve their goals. Sphelele Mjadu, Unilever Personal Care Senior PR Manager adds, “as sponsors of NYFW and through our all-female team of stylists, we hope to inspire women in South Africa to feel empowered and beautiful.”
